In these ‘Moment’ episodes of my podcast, I’ll be selecting my favourite moments from previous episodes of The Diary Of A CEO. In this moment, Tom Bilyeu walks us through how his struggles with anxiety have actually brought him to a place where he enjoys life to the fullest. He walks us through how he breaks his ‘rehearsal of failure’ and the worries that plague his head through meditation. Sometimes it takes issues in our life for us to see our position in most perspective. For Tom, his mental health battles are what made him sort out his diet, and get into a clear space in his own mind about what mattered to him. And when you have clarity, you can take action. When you take action, things change for the better. The Speaking Expert: How To Speak So Everyone Hears You: Julian Treasure
Julian Treasure is a prolific author who is the world-leading expert on how to make yourself heard and be an engaged and empathetic listener. One of the most popular Ted speakers of all time, his talk ‘How to Speak So People Want to Listen’ has been viewed over 50 million times.
When Julian speaks, people listen. And what we learned from Julian is that listening and speaking isn’t a simple case of give and take, one person speaking and another one listening. Instead, it’s a circle, the way one person talks effect the way the other person listens, and vice versa.
We also learn the ‘leeches’, or common mistakes, that hold people back from effective and clear communicating. Do you think you’re a good listener and speaker? If you sub-consciously answered yes, there might be a crucial skill that you’re missing…

Mel C: The Harsh Reality Of Being In The World’s Biggest Girl Band
Mel C is a singer and ‘Sporty Spice’ from the Spice Girls, through her solo career and her time with the Spice Girls she’s sold over 100 million records, making her one of the best selling musical artists of all time.
Every single one of those records was against the odds of coming from a council estate near Liverpool, derogatory labels in the press calling her ‘Sumo Spice’, and music industry management that didn’t believe in her and sought to objectify her.
But she persevered and helped to build the biggest girlband of all time, as well as one of the most successful solo careers of any group member ever. The world is so glad she did because, as this conversation shows, she has so much to contribute when she’s let free to do things her way.

Moment 75 – What You Think You Know About Money Is Wrong: Mo Gowdat
In these ‘Moment’ episodes of my podcast, I’ll be selecting my favourite moments from previous episodes of The Diary Of A CEO. In this moment Mo Gawdat lays out a philosophy for how to admit when you’re wrong, and the right way to go about setting priorities in your life. As Mo powerfully says, ‘50% of what I know is wrong’, and this is true for everyone. Coming to life from this position of humbleness is the only way we can truly get our head straight on what our life is and where it’s taking us. There are things that you need, like food and human interaction, and there are things that you want, like status or expensive possessions. Interrogating the insecurity in our wants and why we really want them is the best way to be at peace with ourselves, and to cut out toxic habits from our life. Because as Mo never tires of pointing out, it’s not how much money we have, but what amount of money we’re happy with, that counts. Lewis Capaldi: The Untold Story Of Becoming A Global Superstar At 22
Lewis Capaldi is one of the biggest singers and musicians in the world today whose last album went 4x platinum. His new single is Forget me and it’s out now. Known for his authentic and honest style, Lewis is unlike any poster that’s come before him.
But behind the everyman ‘boy from Glasgow’ persona is a vulnerable side to Lewis. After a 3 year hiatus from music he tells us, for the very first time, he opens up about his struggles with sometimes crippling anxiety, how he ‘hates recording albums’, and the intense pressure he puts himself under that drives everything he does.
This conversation is a hell of a ride. Expect what you thought you knew about Lewis to be turned upside down. But in the process of listening to this conversation with the pop star whose persona is that he has nothing to hide, you’ll see just how much he’s been holding back all this time.

After a diagnosis with Asphyxia, he is one of the most high-profile people with the disease.

Moment 74 – Business Struggles That No One Tells You: Payal Kadakia
In this moment, Classpass founder Payal Kadakia takes us inside the mental dilemmas and burdens of running a billion dollar business. Because when you’ve built a global company from nothing, no matter how big it gets you always remember when it was small, vulnerable, and struggling. You’ll always see the tiny company it used to be, not the behemoth it’s become. Payal freely admits to paying a heavy price of being too wary of this fear. She missed birthdays, lost friends, and severely effected her mental health. It took a lot of maturing and growing for Payal to achieve balance, balance between her work life and her home life, but also balance between what she wanted, and what she knew she needed. Moment 73 – Simon Sinek: How To Find Ultimate Fulfilment At Work
In these ‘Moment’ episodes of my podcast, I’ll be selecting my favourite moments from previous episodes of The Diary Of A CEO. In this moment, Simon Sinek talks about how we can find purpose in our lives through attaching it to causes bigger than ourselves. There are things that we can achieve by ourselves, but true satisfaction and real pride in our achievements always comes from being part of a team or a collective. A wider cause or a group we care about is the only thing that would cause us to make real sacrifices. Simon’s thought long and hard about how we can take projects in the workplace and in our social lives and infuse them with real meaning for everyone involved with them. What’s emerged is a profound meditation on where human satisfaction really comes from, and a step by step guide on how to bring these principles into your life.
